Matrox Mystique

Matrox Graphics is the division of Matrox Electronic Systems Ltd.. ( Matrox ), which is engaged in the development and distribution of graphics solutions for professional use. The range includes both hardware products and software solutions.

History

Matrox Graphics represents the business where Matrox is a leading manufacturer of graphics cards and a great competitor of Number Nine was during the 1990s. Due to the high pressure of competition, the company withdrew in the late 1990s from the tail end 3D games market, as they dreaded the extremely high development and production costs, and focused on corporate clients. Since Intel IGPs using now dominated the market for office graphics cards, they sought to a niche market, specializing in the following period on professional graphics cards with two or more monitor ports. Today products by Matrox Graphics are mainly used yet where high image quality with high resolution and multiple monitors is important esp. in the medical field, with graphic designers and on exchanges and POS terminals.

Products

After the reorientation is focused at Matrox Graphics especially on multi-display solutions such as DualHead2Go and TripleHead2Go. The older graphics cards but still offered and restricted further developed, not least because of today relevant and rarely surpassed 2D Quality. As before, Matrox graphics cards, especially the G550 series, very popular with designers and programmers. In the summer of 2008 brought the Matrox M- series on the market that support the DirectX 9 cards, the Aero interface in Windows Vista and in professional multi - monitor environments.

Driver

Matrox Graphics offers drivers for all popular operating systems, especially for Microsoft Windows. Until the Matrox G550 was very popular in the Linux world, because you published a complete open- source drivers. This is also implemented in X.Org. With the advent of Parhelia cards in the early 2000s that changed, however, and Matrox Graphics offers only a proprietary driver.
