Mats Ã…hlberg

Mats Bertil Ahlberg ( born May 16, 1947 in Avesta ) is a retired Swedish professional ice hockey player.

Career

Mats Ahlberg began his career as a hockey player in his hometown at Avesta BK, for the seniors team to 1966 he was active from 1963 in the then Division 2 second-rate. Subsequently, the Center moved to Leksand IF from the Division 1 with Leksand he won in 1969, 1973, 1974 and 1975 respectively to the national championship. In the 1975/76 season Leksand was one of the founding members of the inaugural Swedish professional league Elitserien. He himself was in the 1976/77 season top scorer and top scorer in the Elitserien main round. Following the 1980/81 season, he finished his career at the age of 34 years.

Internationally

For Sweden Ahlberg participated in the Olympic Winter Games Sapporo in 1972 and 1980 in Lake Placid in part. At the Winter Games in 1980 he won the bronze medal with his team. In addition, he was in his country's squad at the World Championships 1973, 1974, 1975, 1976, 1977 and 1978 and 1976 at the Canada Cup. At the World Championships in 1974, 1975 and 1976 he won the silver medal with his team each the bronze at the World Championships in 1973 and 1977.
