The Matsapha Airport (English Matsapha International Airport ) is located in the industrial area Matsapha, near the city of Manzini, the largest city of the Kingdom of Swaziland. He is the only international airport in the country. He is by the new International Airport King Mswati III. be replaced. The completion of the new airport had to be made as early as 2011, but was delayed by several years.
From the capital Mbabane of Matsapha Airport is about 25 kilometers away.
History
The runway and airport buildings were built in the 1960s, in the late 1970s, these were expanded.
Future
Planned since 1980, the Swazi government is building since 2003, a new international airport, the International Sikhuphe airport to the east of the country near the Hlane Royal National Park. After commissioning of the new international airport of Matsapha International Airport is to remain fully subject to the forces of Swaziland.
