Matt Bondurant

Matt Bondurant (born 1971 in Alexandria, Virginia) is an American writer and university teacher.

Life

Matt Bondurant was born in Alexandria, Virginia and grew up there as well. He was Kingsbury Fellow at Florida State University and graduated from James Madison University. Short term he taught English at George Mason University. He is currently Professor of Creative Writing and Literature at the University of Texas at Dallas.

With his novel The Third Translation Bondurant debuted in 2005 as a writer. Under the title The Egyptian inscription he appeared a year later in German language. His 2008 novel The Wettest County published the second in the World was filmed by John Hillcoat starring Tom Hardy and Shia LaBeouf in the lead roles under the title Lawless and had at the Cannes Film Festival had its world premiere. The novel is based on a true story. Bondurants grandfather and his great-uncle operated a black distillery during Prohibition in the United States.
