Matt Robinson (actor)

Matthew Thomas " Matt" Robinson, Jr. ( born January 1, 1937 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA; † August 5, 2002 in Los Angeles, California ) was an American actor, producer and screenwriter.

Career

1962 Robinson wrote the screenplay for the film Rained All Night, which is about a slave uprising. In the following years he wrote more screenplays for the TV station WCAU - TV, among others, for Opportunity in Philadelphia.

From 1969 to 1972 Robinson played the role of Gordon on Sesame Street. In addition, he created the character Roosevelt Franklin, which he also lent his voice. Even after he had given up the role of Gordon, Robinson continued to write scripts for skits with this figure. His daughter, Holly Robinson Peete appeared in the series. Years later, a surname of Gordon, who has now played by Roscoe Orman, was sought, it was decided for the last name Robinson.

After his time with the Sesame Street Robinson again wrote screenplays for films as well as for some of the consequences of the Bill Cosby Show, for which he also served as producer.

1982 Robinson Parkinson's disease has been diagnosed. He succumbed to the disease in 2002.
