Matt Serra

Matt Serra ( born June 2, 1974 Ring Name The Terror ) is an American mixed martial arts fighter. The Brazilian jiu -jitsu black belt is a former welterweight titleholder of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, winner of the fourth season of The Ultimate Fighter and silver medalist at the ADCC Submission Wrestling World Championship. His combat balance was 25 September 2010 eleven wins and seven defeats.

Sports career

Matt Serra began first with Kung Fu and trained Brazilian Jiu- Jitsu under Renzo Gracie. He took part in the 1999 BJJ World Championships and placed at the ADCC Submission Wrestling World Championship in 2001 in the class up to 77 kg on the second place. Antretend First, at a small MMA organizer in New York, he had on 4 May 2001 his debut in the UFC. There he acquired a record of four wins and four losses. Then he was engaged as a participant in the fourth season of The Ultimate Fighter. His victory in the final against Chris Lytle secured him a title shot against welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre. To the surprise of many Serra could defeat on April 7, 2007 St. Pierre by TKO in the first round in the main event of UFC 69 and became the new title holder. Serra took it as a coach on the sixth season of The Ultimate Fighter, and should deny a title defense against his opponent Matt Hughes, but he could not compete because of an injury afterwards. As a result he had to go to the UFC 83 fight again 19 April 2008 against St. Pierre, who had in the meantime brought against Hughes the interim title. This time he was defeated by TKO in the second round. His next fight, against Matt Hughes in May 2009, ended in defeat. After a win over Frank Trigg, he lost his re- encounter with Chris Lytle in September 2010.
