Matteo Bobbi

Matteo Bobbi ( born July 2, 1978 in Milan, Italy ) is an Italian racing driver. He won the GT class of the FIA GT Championship in 2003.

Career

Junior classes

Matteo Bobbi began his career in karting in 1994. He was able to win many victories and podiums and belonged to the Dunlop test team. In this context, he could retract the runner-up of the Asian Karting Championship once. 1998 Bobbi then goes from karting to Formula racing. He drove in Formula Renault European Championship and was at the end of the season the best rookie of the year. Between 1998 and 1999 he drove in Formula Renault Winter Series in England for the Team JD Motorsport and was able to win the race at Brands Hatch. For the upcoming Formula Renault season Bobbi stayed with JD Motorsport and drove it twice on the podium at Hockenheim and Estoril.

The road to Formula 1

In 2001, Bobbi was in the European Open Championship Telefonica by Nissan and drove for the team of Adrian Campos. Here Bobbi could win a race in Valencia and finished fifth in the championship.

2002 Bobbi went into the Formula Nissan 2000, which was located under the now renamed Telefonica World Series. He took six pole positions, six fastest laps and six race wins and finished second in the championship.

For the 2007 season, Bobbi went to the International GT Open, an emerging series with GT2 and GT3 cars. He drove for the team GPC Squadra Corse in a Ferrari 430 GT and could take several podium ranks. Only for the 24 Hours of Spa -Francorchamps Bobbi went back to the FIA GT and drove for the Vitaphone Racing Team Maserati MC12 one.

In the 2008 season, Bobbi went back to the Grand Am in America for the Cheever Racing team in the prototype class. However, the contract between the team and the driver was put on hold recently. Currently he runs again for GPC in the Italian GT championship and the International GT Open.
