Matthew West
Matthew West ( born April 25, 1977 in Downers Grove, Illinois ) is an American musician in the field of Christian pop music.
Biography
West was a successful baseball players at the high school; after he had received a music scholarship at Millikin University, he decided to use the music track. Already during his studies he published several albums of his own. After graduating in 1999 he worked but once a song writer and wrote, among other things, Billy Ray Cyrus, Rascal Flatts and the Point of Grace.
The major label Universal in 2003 took him under contract and still published in the same year the first album titled Happy, which won a Dove Award from the Gospel Music Association. His debut single, More was one of the radio hits of the Christian music station. The second album History spawned other successful songs, commercial success was but within limits. After his first major tour is also vocal problems began, which forced him in 2007 to an operation and a longer break.
However, in the following year he returned with the album Something to Say successful than ever before. He first came into the top 100 of the U.S. album charts and the song You Are Everything was the hit of the year in the Christian charts. With The Motions and the album bonus song Give This Christmas Away, a duet with Amy Grant, he had two more number-one hits in the genre charts.
The album The Story of Your Life, which was published in 2010, although was unable to match the song successes, but was with space 42 of the official album charts its most successful.
