Mattias Jonson ( born January 16, 1974 in Kumla ) is a former Swedish football player. Between 1996 and 2006, the attacking midfielder, who won the championship in both Sweden and Denmark went on in 57 appearances for the Swedish national team.

Career

Career start

Jonson played in the Youth for Karlslunds IF and IFK Kumla. In 1992 he moved to the youth department of Örebro SK. A year later, on 18 April 1993 he made his debut in the 1-2 defeat against Helsingborgs IF in the Allsvenskan for the club. In his first year he came in 15 games of the regular season to use, but played in any game over the full duration. Since the club finished only eleventh in the standings, had to play Vasalunds IF the team in the relegation. Initial success and international debut

After this season, Jonson also left the club. New employer of the offensive player was the League rival Helsingborgs IF. He was replaced in the 80th minute for the game Sebastian Henriksson. In his first year with HIF he showed his qualities as a scorer hardly proof, he succeeded in 21 games this season only three goals this season. Successes in Denmark

After the season Jonson left the club and moved in November 1999 to the Danish top club Brøndby IF in the Super League. Luckless in England and return to Sweden

Norwich City promoted to the Premier League, reportedly paid £ 850,000 transfer fee for the Swedish attackers. However, his years in the British Elite series was unsuccessful. At the end of the season of relegation from the top division and a red card in the 2:3 defeat to Manchester City on 28 February 2005 was to book. Therefore, he left the club and returned to Sweden.

Jonson has signed a valid until the end of 2008 three and a half year contract with Djurgårdens IF. However, in the autumn he returned to the football field and helped the club in a relegation battle to reach the relegation place. After another injury, he missed the 0-2 first leg defeat against Assyriska Föreningen. In the return match, he again belonged to the starting lineup and scored in extra time after January Tauer and Christer Youssef had balanced the first leg result in the regular season, the 3-0 winning goal, which meant relegation. Two days later the club announced the extension of the contract by a further season. Also in the 2010 slowed him the injury woes, end of the season he extended his contract for another year, however. After his convalescence he was at the beginning of the 2011 turn achievers. However, he announced in the summer end of his career to the end of the season. After more than 100 Allsvenskan games for Djurgårdens IF he left with an eleventh place in the table from active football.
