Maurice Bonham Carter

Sir Maurice Bonham Carter KCB KCVO ( born October 11, 1880 in London, † June 7, 1960 ) was a British politician ( Liberal Party ).

Life and work

Bonham Carter was born in 1880 as the second son of Henry Bonham Carter and Sibella Charlotte Norman his wife.

After visiting the Winchester College in Winchester, Hampshire and studied at the University of Oxford, where he made his name as a cricket player, he began to engage in political activities. As a member of the Liberal Party in the House, he took over the post of private secretary of Herbert Henry Asquith, in whose reign (1908-1916) he consequently played an important administrative role.

From Bonham Carter in 1915 closed marriage to Violet Asquith, the daughter of his superiors, were born four children. The actress Helena Bonham Carter is his granddaughter.

Bonham Carter died in 1960. His body was buried in the cemetery Mells in Somerset.
