Max Nosseck

Max Nosseck ( born September 19, 1902 in Nakel; † September 29, 1972 in Bad Wiessee ) was a German actor, director and screenwriter.

Life

Nosseck studied art in Vienna and came about in 1918 as an apprentice to Berlin. He appeared in sketches and worked unsaid films. In 1922, the twenty -year-old his own production company, " Nosskess movie". With himself in the lead role, he produced several short films, but in 1923 he was forced to declare bankruptcy.

He then spent a year working in the USA. After his return he worked in Berlin as a stage actor and is detectable in some silent films. In 1925 he founded the jazz band " Mac and Nolly ", with which he appeared in Berlin cabaret. In 1930, he was with the film comedy The Love Clover his directorial debut. After the great success of The Schlemihl with Curt Bois in the lead role, he devoted himself entirely to the work as a director.

After the seizure of power by the Nazis as a Jew, he emigrated to France in 1933. In the following years Nosseck worked out in France in Spain, Portugal and the Netherlands. In 1939 he settled in the United States. Here he was, sometimes under the name Alexander M. Norris, mainly employed for MGM.

In 1955 he returned to Germany, where he gave his New maintenance with the military satire The captain and his hero. After that, he worked primarily as a scriptwriter and directed television films. Towards the end of his career Nosseck stepped back as an actor in appearance. He remained, however, to very small appearances limited, as one of the older guys around Martin Held in the caper comedy The men in the white waistcoat.

Nosseck was married to his first marriage to actress Olly Gebauer, in second with Geneviève Haugan and since 1955 with the actress Ilse Steppat.
