Max Oertli

Max Oertli (* August 5, 1921 in Sargans, † December 8, 2007 in St. Gallen) was a Swiss painter and sculptor.

Career

Max Oertli made ​​from 1938 to 1941 trained as a graphic artist at the School of Art Basel. He lived and worked from 1942 in Sankt Gallen, initially at Werner Weis king. Oertli worked as a painter, sculptor, graphic artist, set designer, photographer, teacher and gallery owner. In particular, as a sculptor he had with his large-format objects in urban space success. Content of his drawings and paintings was the man and the human environment.

Famous Works Oertli are the jugglers Fountain ( 1960), the fountain sculpture at the Neumarkt and the Johann Linder fountain in St. Gallen.

He was married in first marriage to the late 1987 Marthe Hirschmann; from the marriage were born three children. Later he married the painter and sculptor Margrit nobleman.
