Maxime Rodinson
Maxime Rodinson ( born January 26, 1915 in Marseille, † 23 May, 2004 Paris) was a French Marxist historian and orientalist.
Rodinsons parents were Russian-Polish Jews who had emigrated to France before his birth. They were abducted and killed in the Auschwitz concentration camp.
Rodinson studied Oriental languages and became a professor at the École Pratique for Ge'ez des Hautes Études.
In 1968 he founded together with Jacques Berque the " research and action group for Palestine".
