Maydh

Region

Maydh or Mait is a town and port on the Gulf of Aden in the Sanaag region in Somaliland / northern Somalia.

Maydh was next to Zeila, Berbera and Heis one of the places on the coast Nordsomalias where settled Arab and Persian merchants.

In Maydh is the tomb of Sheikh Isaaq, the ancestor of the Somali clan of Isaaq, which is the goal of pilgrimages. About the Port of Maydh cattle are mainly exported to the countries of the Arabian Peninsula, this port is far less important than that of Berbera.

Off the coast lies the Maydh Island ( Jasiira Maydh ).
