Mayo Methot

Mayo Methot ( March 3, 1904 in Portland, Oregon, USA, † June 9, 1951 ibid ) was an American actress.

The daughter of a captain and a police reporter celebrated in the 1920s success as a stage actress on Broadway. At the beginning of the 1930s she moved to Hollywood and got mainly supporting roles in productions of Warner Bros. Studios. During the filming of one of these movies, murder in the nightclub, she learned in 1937 Humphrey Bogart, whom she married the following year. Mayo was Bogart's third wife. He called them in reference to their drinking strength and belligerence " Sluggy ". Witnesses described Mayo Methot in the fasting state than friendly. However, she was intoxicated, she was prone to violent outbursts of anger and jealousy. Your dispute with Bogart were legendary in Hollywood. The couple was referred to in the press as " Battling Bogarts ". It also happened that Mayo Methot threatened her husband in front of witnesses with the gun. On June 9, 1951, she died in a motel room in Portland, Multnomah district.
