MAZ-535

The truck models MAZ-535/537 (Russian МАЗ-535/МАЗ-537 ) are tractors of the Belarusian vehicle manufacturer Minski Awtomobilny Sawod that were developed in the early 1960s for the Soviet military to transport missiles and tanks.

History

As early as 1956 the first prototypes of the MAZ -535 were produced, with which performance tests were created. From military tractor was required which could show a gradeability of 30 °. Moreover, had the, eight driven and four steered wheels guided vehicle carrying a ground clearance of 475 mm, and recovered a total weight of about 35 tons of payload. The 12-cylinder diesel engine with 38,880 cc displacement and 375 hp was mounted in a separate engine house behind the cabin and powered by two large cooling systems.

In the early 1960s, the MAZ -537 was developed based on the MAZ - 535V. Essentially, this is a performance enhancement. The 12-cylinder diesel engine now produced 525 horsepower. Also, the MAZ -537 exists in numerous variations of the external hardly differ.
