Mbarak Hussein

Mbarak Kipkorir Hussein ( born April 4, 1965 in Eldoret ) is an American long-distance runner of Kenyan origin, specializing in road races.

In 1987 he came to the United States where he studied at the Lubbock Christian University and Northern Arizona University and was active as a middle-distance runner. Then he strove his older brother Ibrahim Hussein, the three-time winner of the Boston Marathon, gradually changed to longer distances.

His first big success was in 1998 a victory at the Honolulu Marathon, the already his brother had decided in the 1980s, three times for themselves.

The following year, he finished second at the Rock 'n ' Roll Marathon in 2:10:45 h to a third place in Honolulu in 1999 and 2000, followed in 2001, a fifth place finish at the Boston Marathon and a victory in Honolulu.

He was fourth in Boston in 2002, won the JoongAng Seoul Marathon and defended his title in Honolulu. In 2003 he was fourth at the Seoul International Marathon and second in Honolulu.

In 2004 he was third at each Seoul International Marathon ( with his personal best of 2:08:10 h), the JoongAng Seoul Marathon and Honolulu. In October of that year he received the U.S. citizenship.

In 2005 and 2006 he was the overall winner of the Twin Cities Marathon U.S. marathon champion. With his second at the Honolulu Marathon in 2005, he came for the eighth time in a row in this race to a podium place.

In 2007 he was allowed to start internationally for his new home country and was the best American in the marathon of the World Athletics Championships in Osaka the 21th Place.

In 2005, he presented with 1:03:23 hours in the half marathon and 1:17:12 h in the 25 -km road run, the current U.S. record for the Masters class ( M40). In the same year, he scored over 12 km by 36:06 a world record for this age group min.

Mbarak Kipkorir Hussein is 1.73 meters tall and weighs 63 kg. He lives in Albuquerque and is his own coach.
