Mebeverine is a Darmspasmolytikum, which leads to a relaxation of the muscles of the gastrointestinal area, thereby exerting antispasmodic. The drug blocks the transmission of excitation of the nerve fibers of the autonomic nervous system on the gastrointestinal muscles by it displaces the competent messengers from their binding sites.
