Mecapaca

Mecapaca is a village in the department of La Paz in the South American Andes State of Bolivia.

Location in near space

Mecapaca is the central place of the district ( bolivian: Municipio) Mecapaca in the province of Murillo. The village is situated on a mountain ridge at an altitude of 2877 m on the left bank of the Río de la Paz, which flows out towards the Río Beni coming from the capital to the south.

Geography

Mecapaca is located on the eastern slopes of the Andes mountain range, the Cordillera Central at the transition to the Bolivian lowlands. The climate of the region is a typical diurnal climate, in which the mean fluctuation of the temperatures during the day more marked as the year progresses.

Mecapaca is located at a distance of 25 kilometers of road south of La Paz, the capital of the department of the same name.

From La Paz, a road leads south past the Valle de la Luna ( Moon Valley ) and the hamlet Mallasa on the left side of the Río de la Paz to Macapaca.
