Mecysmaucheniidae

The family of Mecysmaucheniidae belong to 25 species. They were described in 1986 by Jörg Wunderlich as a subfamily of Archaeidae. So far, they have been detected only in Chile, Argentina and the Falkland Islands and the Juan Fernández Islands. Only the single Aotearoa, A. magna (Forster, 1949) and both Zearchaea species Z. clypeata ( Wilton, 1946) and Z. fiordensis (Forster, 1955 ), however, only in New Zealand.
