Medal "For the Liberation of Belgrade"

The medal "For the liberation of Belgrade " (Russian Медаль " За освобождение Белграда ") was a Soviet award during the Second World War as part of the Belgrade operation which led to the conquest of Belgrade by the Soviet Red Army. Your foundation took place on June 9, 1945 by Josef Stalin.

Stylish look and manner

The bronze medal shows on its obverse below two crossed, upwardly curved and open laurel branches, which are connected at their lower cross point by a phantom loop. Between their upper ends flaunts a Soviet star. In the center, the semi-circular, raised embossed inscription is: За освобождение ( for the exemption) to read and horizontally among Белграда ( Belgrade ). The reverse shows the three-line inscription: 20 / октября / 1944 (20 October 1944), the date of the taking of Belgrade.

Was driven medal at the upper left side of the chest Beliehenen of an elongated pentagonal fabric-covered clasp, whose color is green. In this band a black center stripe is perpendicular woven. The accompanying interim clasp is of the same nature.

The medal was awarded to approximately 70,000 members of the Red Army, who participated in the conquest of Belgrade.
