Medal "For the Salvation of the Drowning"

The medal "For the rescue drowning " (Russian Медаль « За спасение утопающих ") was an award from the former Soviet Union, which was founded on February 16, 1957 the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR in one stage. By 1991, about 24,000 people have been awarded the medal. The renewal of the coin was launched on 2 March 1992. You will again be awarded from this point of the Russian Federation.

Award conditions

The medal can be awarded to all citizens of the Soviet Union as well as foreign nationals who have on the territory of the USSR ( the Russian Federation ) by personal courage and sacrifice, their own initiative, attention and ingenuity people rescued from drowning. Furthermore, the medal may also be awarded to members of the water rescue in such operations.

Stylish look and manner

The medal is made of brass, golden shimmers and has a diameter of 32 mm. It shows on their obverse the portrait of a savior who has a drowning man in tow. Rescue this symbolism is surrounded by the inscription: За спасение утопающих ( For rescue drowning ). The reverse of the coin, however, shows hammer and sickle on a laurel branch and the country code inscription underneath: CCCP (USSR). It was omitted in the newer version and instead РОССИЯ (Russia).

Was driven medal at the upper left side of the chest Beliehenen on a light blue pentagonal clasp. In this band, a 2 mm wide and the vertical white stripe means is centrally woven, which again is located on the two sides of the band in a triple weave. Their distance from each other amounts to 1 mm.
