Mediterranean Region, Turkey

The Turkish Mediterranean Region ( Akdeniz Turkish Bölgesi - literally translated as " White Sea area ") is a geographic region of Turkey. This region represents about 15.4% of the Turkish national territory dar. With an area of 120,000 km ², it is both surfaces as well as in population compared to the seven regions of the 4th Place.

This region exists officially after the Geography Congress in 1941 in Ankara and is divided into two further sub-regions or areas.

Politically

Turkey is politically subdivided into 81 provinces. This region includes the following provinces throughout:

  • Mersin
  • Osmaniye
  • Kahramanmaras

This region includes the following provinces only partially:

  • Kayseri
  • Konya
  • Karaman
  • Afyonkarahisar
  • Denizli
  • Muğla
  • Gaziantep

Climate

Population

According to the people counting in 2000, the population is 8,706,005 and the population density of 72.6 inhab / km ² (TR- nationally: 88.25 inhab / km ² ).. . 59.8 % ( 5,204,203 ) of the population live in urban areas and 40.2 % ( 3,501.802 ) in the country. The annual population growth rate is 2.143 %.
