Medullary cavity

The marrow cavity ( glenoid medullaris, becoming outdated and in veterinary anatomy: cavum medullare ) is a filled with bone marrow cavity in the shaft ( diaphysis ) of long bones in vertebrates. You will be enveloped by the substantia compacta and is of a delicate membrane lining the bone ( endosteum ) lined. The Compacta has a hole vessel ( foramen nutricium ) through which a pulling into the marrow cavity blood vessel occurs. The medullary cavity is consistent with the marrow cells ( Cellulae medullares ) of the cancellous bone in open communication.

In fetuses and young individuals the medullary cavity contains red bone marrow (medulla ossium rubra), the age is this completely in fatty marrow (medulla ossium flava) converted.
