Meers (Oklahoma)

Sea is a small town in the U.S. state of Oklahoma. It is located near the Wichita Mountains.

Founded in the town was in the 1890s, after gold was allegedly found in the vicinity. The rumor of the alleged discovery of gold may have been brought into the world in order to attract settlers from the East. In fact, a long time existed mines near the city, but never larger amounts of gold was found. Economically significant in Meers, however, the cattle was where it fell back on Longhorn cattle from Texas. Farming is still the main source of income in Meers. In sea there is also a wildlife reserve, held in the buffalo, elk and deer.

Sea is known but for a different reason. Close to sea there is a rift zone, the so-called sea - trench, which was only discovered in 1985. Was also demonstrated that at least two major earthquakes occurred in Meers. The last one is about 1,000 years back.
