Meg Christian

Meg Christian ( born 1946 in Lynchburg, Virginia ) is an American singer of folk music.

Life

After her schooling Christian studied at the University of North Carolina music and English in 1969 and moved to Washington DC There, Christian began as a singer to perform in nightclubs and wrote lyrics with feminist and socio-political issues. Christian was one of the founding members of the company Olivia Records, which published songs in particular of women. In the 1970 Christian was three years together with the musician Holly Near. Christian appeared in the 1970s at several festivals in the United States as a singer of American folk music. 1984 Christian began with the study of Asian mysticism and was the result of these studies, the albums The Fire of My Love and Songs of Ecstasy out. Christian changed its name in Shambhavi and went in the 1980s in an ashram in New York City. 2002 Christian drew on her connections to Olivia Records, and appeared as a singer on at various events.
