The meglenorumänische ( rarely also meglenitische ) is a language spoken in the border area between Greece and Macedonia language, which belongs to the Romanian group of Romance languages. Your speakers are called Meglenorumänen.

Classification and history

The Meglenorumänische is closely related to the Aromanian, ( Dako ) and Romanian Istrorumänischen and can be just like those attributed to the Urrumänische or proto- Romanian, which in turn was developed from the Vulgar Latin Southeastern Europe. Together with these three varieties makes it within the Romance languages Romanian language group of the Balkan Romance languages.

Whether ( Dako ) Romanian, Aromanian, Istrorumänischen and Meglenorumänisch are to be regarded as dialects of a single language or as four separate languages about different views are represented in the Romance linguistics. In the older Romance the four emerged from the Urrumänischen varieties were regarded as dialects of a single Romanian language due to their common origin, and said structural similarity. In parts of the younger Romance these four forms of language primarily because of its long-standing socio- linguistic autonomy are classified as separate languages.

The differences between the Meglenorumänischen and the languages spoken in the immediate neighborhood Aromanian can be traced in part to the different history of the two communities. While the Aromanians have in their language Greek influences, occur in the Megleno - Romanians rather Slavic elements. The Megleno - Romanians are probably migrated to their present settlement area in the 14th century from Wallachia. Their language has more in common with the Dakorumänischen.

Dissemination

The Meglenorumänische is now spoken by a few thousand people whose settlement area is located mainly in Greece, but also in Macedonia. In the 20s of the 20th century, several hundred Muslim Meglenorumänen from Notia had to emigrate to Turkey. More people moved to Romania 2000-3000.
