Megleno-Romanians

The language area of the Meglenorumänen is partially surrounded by the Romanesque Aromanians, yet the two nations are to be distinguished because of the different history and the spoken idioms.

The ancestors of the Meglenorumänen probably migrated in the 14th century in today's space, and it is thought that they originate from the southern Wallachia. That's why they have more in common with the Dakorumänen. What is noticeable in the Meglenorumänen that they (unlike the Dakorumänen, Aromanians and Istrorumänen ) even refer to themselves in their native language as " Vlachs " ( meglenorumänisch: " Vlasi ").

While Greek influences occur at the Aromanians in their language, the Megleno - Vlachs have a Slavic character. Some scientists consider the Meglenorumänen as part of the Romanian people and Meglenorumänisch as a Romanian dialect. The Meglenorumänen mostly belong to the Orthodox Christian Church.
