Geography

Neighboring communities

The city Münsingen ( district of Reutlingen ) and the community Schelkingen (Alb -Donau-Kreis ) adjoin the community Mehrstetten.

Community structure

The municipality consists of the village Mehrstetten, the settlement Greut, the homestead Ziegelhofstraße and the group of houses station Mehrstetten. The municipality is the deserted village Aymstetten.

History

Mehrstetten was documented in the year 1300 as Merstetten for the first time. Mehrstetten came to office in 1654 in the Duchy of Württemberg Münsingen, 1808 Oberamt and from 1938 Münsingen County and with its dissolution on 1 January 1973 for the district of Reutlingen.

Religions

Since the 15th century in Mehrstetten a parish. Since the Reformation, the place is dominated Protestant.

Development of the municipality

1977, a part of the district Schelkingen - Sondernach was umgemeindet with three ethnic yards after Mehrstetten.

Parish council

The local council in Mehrstetten has ten members. The turnout in the local elections of 2009 was 64.48 %, and resulted in the following distribution of seats:

The council consists of the elected honorary councilors and the mayor as chairman. The mayor is entitled to vote in the local council.

Mayor

The mayor is elected for a term of eight years. The current term of office of Rudolf Ott ends on September 30, 2016.

Culture and sights

Museum of Local History

Exceptional pieces on the village life on the Swabian Alb in the 19th century, members of the volunteer-run museum gathered in the former Farrenstall of Mehrstetten. The local museum was opened in 1991.

During a tour you will encounter a kitchen with old wood stove and churn and to the parlor, where hanging over the stove shoes and laundry to dry. The bedroom has a four poster bed with the associated cabinet. Of interest is the unique collection of over 200 old linen bags. These were formerly part of the most valuable possession of mankind. They were provided with names and often numbered. Even change of ownership by inheritance cases you can still see the lines today, old names were painted and new written underneath. A hand-operated Sackausklopfmaschine is also shown.

It will take place exhibition and craft days, in which there is much to experience. The Old Forge is just started up like an old transmission or a 400 year old loom. From May to October the museum is open every first Sunday of the month from 13.30 bis 16.30 clock.

Economy and infrastructure

Traffic

The county road 6772 connects Mehrstetten by the federal highway 465 which leads from Bad Urach coming over Münsingen and Ehingen ( Danube ) to Biberach an der Riss.

The public transport is guaranteed by the integrated transport system Neckar -Alb -Donau ( NALDO ). The municipality is located in the comb 225 Mehrstetten received in 1901 through the extension of the line Reutlingen - Münsingen until after Schelkingen connection to the railway network. The Royal Württemberg State Railways built the station building as a unit train station of type IIa.

Education
