Meijer is a US-based retail company with headquarters in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The company was founded in 1934 as a supermarket chain. The company was founded by Hendrik Meijer, a Dutch immigrant. The regional focus of the company is located in the U.S. state of Michigan as well as in the neighboring states of Illinois, Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky. In 2006 the company by Forbes among the 10 largest privately held company was listed in the United States.
