Meike Hoffmann

Meike Hoffmann (born 1962 ) is a German art historian and provenance researcher.

Life and work

Hoffmann studied art history, classical archeology, folklore and Library Science at the University of Kiel and at the Free University of Berlin. In Berlin in 2005 she was phil with a supervised by Werner Busch dissertation on the artist group " bridge " to Dr.. doctorate.

From 1990 to 1994 she worked as a research assistant at the Berlin gallery Theis and for the Ceramics Museum Berlin. From 1992 to 1995 she took a teaching position in art history at the Goethe Institute in Berlin. From 1995 to 1999 she was research assistant and collaborator in the Brücke Museum in Berlin, and from 1999 to 2006, she worked as a freelance art historian, writer and curator.

Since November 2006 she has been employed, which was founded in 2003 and funded by the Gerda Henkel Foundation as of the Ferdinand Möller Foundation Research Centre "Degenerate Art" at the Free University, since the winter semester 2007/ 08 in conjunction with teaching assignments. She conceived the study program provenance research, which has been available since the 2011 summer semester.

In 2010 she was involved in the identification of the so-called Berlin Sculpture find.

After the Schwabing Art Fund 2012 she was commissioned to provenance research and participated in the November 5, 2013 at the press conference on the Art Fund in Augsburg in part.
