MEK6800D2

The MEK6800D2 is a microprocessor development board from Motorola. It appeared in 1976 and had the following features:

  • CPU Motorola 6800
  • RAM 3 × 128 bytes of 6810, from which one could use only 256 bytes
  • 1 Kbyte ROM 6830
  • 6 * 7 -segment display
  • Hexadecimal keyboard 0-9 and A -F

It was developed to familiarize yourself with the microprocessor 6800. With the monitor program " JBUG " you could write machine code in the RAM area and run the code. So you were able to without burning EPROMs, which was very expensive at that time yet to write machine language programs and try them out.

These types of systems were well into the 1980s. They were built for many processors. Until the appearance of the home computer, it was the way to get an introduction to the microprocessor technology for little money.
