Mel B
Melanie Janine Brown ( * May 29, 1975 in Leeds, England), also known as Mel B., is a British singer and actress. She was a member of the pop group Spice Girls and was there the nickname Scary Spice ( " The Uncanny" ). Her father is from the Caribbean island of St. Kitts and Nevis.
Life
After the end of the Spice Girls came out in 2000, her first solo album Hot. This followed in 2005 by the second solo album, LA State of Mind. The CD flopped, however, which, inter alia, probably was also due to the lack of promotion: Only 670 copies of the album, which was recorded according to self- representation as a thank you to the fans, sold in the first week after release in the UK. Thus, the CD reached the 453rd place in the UK album sales. Hot made it after all that time at No. 28 in the hit parade.
Acting Career
Even before her Spice Girls - time Melanie Brown had three appearances in the British drama series Coronation Street. In 1997 she played herself in the Spice Girls movie. In 2003, she played the role of Claire on the hit British series Burn It. But it has been only in the first season with. Also in 2003 she starred in the British horror film with LD 50 Lethal Dose, which was released directly to DVD. 2004 saw them on the side of Kelly Rowland in the American romantic comedy The Seat Filler, which was co-produced by Will Smith. In 2006, she was standing next to Jason Flemyng in the thriller Telling Lies in front of the camera, which had its premiere in Cannes on May 16, 2007. Also in 2006, she stood for the short film Love Thy Neighbor front of the camera. She also stood on the stage and indeed in The Vagina Monologues and the musical Rent.
Private life
On September 13, 1998 Brown married dancer Jimmy Gulzar the; together they have a daughter Phoenix Chi (born 21 February 1999). The marriage was divorced again in 2001. From a short-term relationship with the U.S. actor Eddie Murphy she has her second daughter Angel Iris (born 3 April 2007). After Murphy had doubted the paternity of media attention, showed a DNA test on 11 June 2007 in a hospital in Beverly Hills the opposite.
Since June 6, 2007, she is married to music producer Stephen Belafonte. With Belafonte she also has a daughter, Madison (born 1 September 2011).
From September to November 2007 Melanie Brown was a participant of the U.S. TV dance show Dancing with the Stars ( U.S. version of Let 's Dance ). In the final on 27 November, she took second place with her dance partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy.
On 7 April 2008 Brown presented her own fashion line Catty Couture ( German: " Feline Fashion ") in the California Market Center in Los Angeles before, consisting of ladies tops, jackets and skirts with printed animal designs. She is also the new face for an advertising campaign of underwear brand Ultimo.
She was to be seen in June 2008 as the host of the talent show The Singing Office. Along with Joey Fatone (* NSYNC ) surprised her office to organize a spontaneous singing competition there.
Brown is currently working among others with producer Rodney Jerkins ( Darkchild ) on her third album. "It's R & B -pop, somewhere between Pink and Destiny 's Child. Urban pop. That's what I do best, where I come from what people know me. So far I have recorded four songs with some great people. " With Rodney Jerkins Brown had worked with the Spice Girls on their third album Forever. In September 2008 she released a fitness DVD.
