Mel Ferrer
Melchior " Mel" Gaston Ferrer ( born August 25, 1917 in Elberon, New Jersey, † June 2, 2008 at Santa Barbara, California ) was an American actor, director, writer, film producer and show manager.
Life
The son of a Cuban doctor and a New Yorker first took a medical degree at Princeton, but then turned to acting and made her debut as a dancer on Broadway. But this career he had already quit in the early 1940s, he contracted polio. He began a work in radio as a spokesperson and director, which eventually brought him as a feature film director and assistant directors (including John Ford ) to Hollywood.
1949, Ferrer made his feature film debut as an actor in the production, if parents remain silent. In the 1950s, he was promoted by supporting roles in several Hollywood productions ( among other things, as an opponent of Stewart Granger in Scaramouche, the gallant Marquis, on the side of Marlene Dietrich in Angel of the hunted, as King Arthur opposite Robert Taylor in The Knight of the round Table and next to Leslie Caron in the musical adaptation Lili ) to a popular movie star. Until the 1960s, Ferrer remained in Hollywood movies, a fixed size and played in lavish productions as The Fall of the Roman Empire (as one of the murderers of Marcus Aurelius ) and the title role of the painter El Greco. After Ferrer worked primarily in Europe, as well as under the direction of Rainer Werner Fassbinder's Lili Marleen in. He also appeared as a guest on numerous television series and starred in the wine-making family saga Falcon Crest three years confidant and later husband of Jane Wyman.

Mel Ferrer died on 2 June 2008 at the age of 90 years on his farm near Santa Barbara in California from the effects of bowel disease and pneumonia. Mel Ferrer has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame ( 6268 Hollywood Blvd. ).
