Melchior Broederlam

Melchior Broederlam or Broederlain was a Flemish painter of the Gothic.

About his life little is known. Secured is only his stay at the court of Philip the Bold of Burgundy in Ypres, in the period 1381-1409.

The only detectable plant Broederlam are two wings of an altar for the Chartreuse de Champmol in Dijon from 1394. On it are the motives of the Annunciation and the Visitation, the Presentation in the Temple and the flight of the Holy Family to Egypt.
