Meleşeni (1944 - 1989 Мелешень Cyrillic, Russian Мелешены / Melescheny ) is a village and a municipality in Rajon Calarasi, Moldova, 46 km north- west of the capital Chişinău, and 15 km north of the Rajonhauptstadt Calarasi.

Structure

The road is the village community Meleşeni. To the east is the municipality Bravicea, to the west the town Tibiriçá, to the south is the community Frumoasa. Only the main street in town is paved.

The European Route 583 ( former Highway M14) runs about 2 km north of the village.

History

On a hill outside the village are the ruins of a city that was burned down in an invasion of Germanic tribes around the year 200 BC.

The village is the first time in a document dated May 9, 1681 mentioned.

1922, the village is in the context of agriculture and land reform, initiated by the Sfatul Ţării, equipped with two motorized mills.

From April 6 to August 20, 1944 is Meleşeni under artillery fire of the Russian army. The majority of the population fled into the surrounding forests. The church in the village is completely destroyed. In the years 1982-1990 it was rebuilt and consecrated in 1990.

After the war, the village forms the kolkhoz June 28, 1953 they will be merged with the kolkhoz Dimitrov from Tibiriçá and converted 1982 state farms. As part of the Reprivatisierungsprogramms Pamînt the land was privatized in 1999.

Churches

  • Orthodox Church Înălţarea Domnului ( built in 1891, rebuilt after the 2nd World War 1982-1990 )
  • Opened in 2008 in the village of a Pentecostal church, which also ran a children's home ( Home of Hope ). In February 2009, an employee of attacks and harassment by the orthodox priest reported. According to information provided by members of the Baptist church in Bravicea the community is no longer existent.
