Melsdorf
Melsdorf is a municipality in the district of Rendsburg -Eckernförde in Schleswig -Holstein.
Geography and transport
The community is located just west of the state capital Kiel, to which it is adjacent. To the north are the communities Ottendorf and Quarnbek, southwest Achterwehr.
The municipality is situated on the main highway 210, to which it is connected via exit 6. Other major roads leading to the Kiel districts Mettenhof and Russee, as well as to Ottendorf, Quarnbek and Achterwehr. Melsdorf is connected via the bus lines 6, 91 and 100 of the VCLT to the Kiel transport. The railway station on the route Kiel - Rendsburg was decommissioned in the 1980s and dismantled the sidings in the 1990s. About reopening as a breakpoint but has been discussed for years, especially since Melsdorf has grown rapidly in recent years in the area of the station. 2014 is to be the re-opening of the station.
History
The place Melsdorf was first mentioned in the 13th century as Miltigstorpe. By 1899 he belonged to the estate Quarnbek and has since independently.
