Members of the covenant
The Federal sons ( Syriac ܒ ܢ ܝ ܩ ܝ ܡ ܐ, bnay qyāmâ ) was a monk -like community within the Syrian Church of the 4th century, the ascetic life combined with active, social and church political activity. Asceticism and celibacy was a requirement to be in this group, the particular church life, admitted. Existing marriages were repealed:
The wife is obliged to live with women, the man should live with men and if a man wants to be in holiness, then his wife shall not live with him so he does not return to its former nature and is considered for an adulterer. ( Aphraates, Demonstration 4: of the Federal sons )
This group included the most important Syrian Church writers Aphraates and Ephrem the Syrian.
