Membrane biophysics

The membrane biophysics ( engl. membrane biophysics ) is one of the essential part of the field of biophysics. It deals with the characterization of the properties and functions of biological membranes. The investigation objects range from single molecules on Membranrekonstitutionssysteme to whole cells or organisms. The broad range of this reason, the methods of membrane biophysics, ranging from microscopic methods ( light or fluorescence microscopy, atomic force microscopy) via electrical measurements (patch -clamp technique ) and spectroscopic methods (NMR, X-ray structure analysis ) to theoretical model calculations.
