Memphis South Stars

The Memphis South Stars were an American ice hockey franchise of the Central Hockey League from Memphis, Tennessee.

History

The Memphis South Stars took to the 1967/68 season on the operation of gambling in the Central Professional Hockey League, in which they were the new farm team of the Minnesota North Stars of the National Hockey League. In the city itself, they filled the gap that was left by the Memphis Wings by relocating them in the same year. In their first season the team finished in third place in the Northern Division in the 1968/69 season in which the league was named the Central Hockey League, failed the South Stars as fourth in the North Division to qualify for the playoffs for the Adams Cup. In two seasons of the Canadian John Muckler was head coach of the South Stars.

For the season 1969/70 the Memphis South Stars were to Waterloo, Iowa, relocated and then took under the name Iowa Stars game on operation of the CHL part.
