The Mendel University in Brno (Czech: Mendelova univerzita v Brně, in short: MENDELU ) is a university in Brno, which was established in 1919 as University of Agriculture. Until 1 January 2010, she was as Mendel University of Agriculture and Forestry Brno (Czech: Mendelova zemědělská a Lesnická univerzita v Brně, in short: MLZU ) known.

The name of the University is due to the Silesian Augustinian monk and scientist Gregor Mendel.

Currently studying at the university with four faculties more than 8000 students in 25 bachelor's degree programs, 12 programs with 27 building master 's degree programs, 13 programs with 17 five-year Master courses and 19 courses with postgraduate study opportunities. Courses are offered in English.

Attached are the Established in 1926, Botanical Garden and Arboretum, the 10,000 -acre " Masaryk forest " in Křtiny with a sawmill in Olomučany and the farm was founded in 1925 in Žabčice.
