Geography

Mendhausen located southwest of the city Römhild at the Thuringian- Franconian border on a higher level of the Thuringian Rhön. The country road 3029 and county road 508 connect the city traffic as standard with the surrounding area.

History

Mendhausen was first mentioned in documents in 1156. 1466 Irmelshausen branch of the parish Mendhausen was separated and independent parish.

The community Mendhausen closed on 31 December 2012 with the city Römhild and other formerly independent communities to the new city Römhild together. The municipality Mendhausen belonged to the district Mönchshof.
