Menemen (food)

Menemen is a Turkish egg dish that is usually eaten for breakfast. Menemen usually contains eggs, tomatoes, green peppers and onions, as well as spices such as black and red pepper. Is prepared menemen mostly in small pan in which the dish is also served.

Preparation

The onions are heated in melted butter or olive oil, then the pepper and the chopped tomatoes are added. Once the tomatoes are soft simmered, you are per serving one or two eggs added. The eggs are stirred and should be complete cooking, but do not dry out.

Usual supplements are cheese or sausage. To menemen white bread is usually served.
