Menomena

Menomena ( mɨnɒmɨnə ) is a band from Portland ( Oregon), USA. The end of 2000 the band by Danny Seim, Justin Harris, and Brent button was founded. They play a rather bulky indie pop and are compared to bands like The Flaming Lips, Mercury Rev or Sonic Youth.

History

Menomenas debut album called I Am the Fun Blame Monster, their second album was an instrumental album called Under an Hour and was originally played as background music for a play. With their third album, Friend and Foe, Menomena experienced particularly in the U.S. of a breakthrough. The album finished 2007 ranked number 49 of the list of the 50 best albums of the year in the Music Express, got Pitchfork Media 8.5 out of 10. The album received a Metascore of 78 and have scored with its original, designed by the cartoonist Craig Thompson packaging for attention. So the album cover finished in spite of there rather moderate rating ranked 14th in the Jahrespoll of Plattentests.de. Appeared in July 2010 - three and a half years of work - their fourth album titled Mines.

On 7 January 2011 Brent knob left the band to concentrate on his side-projects (especially Ramona Falls).

Side projects

Drummer Danny Seim has a side project called Lackthereof (own spelling: Lackthereof ), with whom he has recorded nine albums, one of which, however, only two have been officially released. Brent knob published in 2009 as Ramona Falls album Intuit.
