MenuetOS

MenuetOS is a fully in x86 assembly language written operating system that is extremely compact and fast to 32 - runs and 64 -bit architectures.

The system interfaces are optimized for programming in assembly language, so it is relatively easy to write graphical applications in assembly language. Especially in AMD64 long -mode, there are clear technical program simplifications.

The multi-core operation is supported in the 64- bit version from version 0.93w. The 32- bit version is hardly more developed due to the continuing 64- bit version. On 12 August 2007, the current version appeared 0.85B for x86 systems.

On MenuetOS based operating system KolibriOS, which was split off of it and is independently developed since about 2005. The reason for the elimination of the neglect of the 32 -bit distribution of MenuetOS is called. The 64 -bit distribution of MenuetOS other hand, is no longer offered as open source. The developer of MenuetOS wanted to foreclose against too many co-developer with his own ideas thus supposedly. KolibriOS has gained a large number of user programs since 2005 through the 'open source' and the resulting larger developer community, however, remains limited to the 32- bit technology and the single core operation.
