Meredith Corporation

The Meredith Corporation is a US-based media company from Des Moines, Iowa. The company is listed on the stock index S & P 500.

Meredith has a wide variety of radio and television stations in the United States. In addition, Meredith is the editor of several newspapers and magazines. Meredith employs approximately 3160 people (as of 2006).

History

The company was founded in 1902 by Edwin Meredith, when he brought out the magazine Successful Farming. 1922 Meredith published the magazine Fruit, Garden and Home, which was renamed in 1924 in Better Homes and Gardens. Since then Meredith has introduced several other magazines. In 1986, the magazine Ladies' Home Journal was purchased and in 2005 the women's magazine portfolio was taken over by Gruner Jahr.

Meredith owns 15 television stations and a radio station. The only radio station WNEM (AM) in Saginaw, Michigan, a sister television station WNEM - TV in Saginaw.
