Meritor ( NYSE: MTOR ) is a supplier to the automotive industry for cars, commercial vehicles, trailers, special vehicles OEM and replacement markets. The headquarters of Meritor is located in Troy, Michigan (USA), a total of about 18,000 people are employed at 103 locations in 24 countries.

Zeuna Stronger / EMCON

More German sites created by the purchase of the company Zeuna Stronger GmbH & Co. KG in Augsburg assembly plants (Customer Value Center ) in Lilienthal near Bremen ( Mercedes- Benz) and Leipzig ( for Porsche). Manufacture and deliver the CVCs in Lilienthal and Leipzig "just in sequence " to the local OEM.

In the Augsburg plant were exhaust systems ( Emissions Technologies ), mostly used for passenger car sector (Business Unit: Light Vehicle Systems ), developed, led to the mass production and manufacturing. On 2 February 2007, the Group Executive Board in Troy announced that the exhaust system business is sold ( Emissions Technologies business group ) to One Equity Partners ( OEP). The transaction cost about $ 310 million and was completed on 17 May 2007. The name of the new company was EMCON Technologies. Emcon was acquired by Faurecia in 2010, the exhaust business was unified under Faurecia Emissions Control Technologies.

History

Meritor was founded in 1997 as a spin -off of Rockwell International. Following the acquisition of Arvin Industries, Inc. in 2000, the company has continued as ArvinMeritor.

In 2003 they tried to take over its competitor Dana, which ultimately foundered.

On 30 March 2011, the company changed the name from ArvinMeritor, Inc. to Meritor Inc. again
