Geography

Flag -pebble creek lay on both sides of the river Werra between the mountains of the Thuringian Forest and the Rhön.

Community structure

The municipality flag -pebble creek consisted of the districts flag, pebble creek and the small village Kambachsmühle.

History

For the first time the district pebble creek was first mentioned by the Hersfeld Abbey in the year 1155, the district marker in the year 1308.

The two formerly independent municipalities flag and pebble creek joined together in 1994 to the unity community flag -pebble creek.

At the end of 2013 flag -pebble creek has risen with the neighboring community Dorndorf in the new unit community Krayenberggemeinde.

Coat of arms

The coat of arms was designed by Uwe heraldist Reipert and introduced on 1 July 1994. The wave beam with the pebbles symbolizes talking the place name pebbly brook, the castle represents the Krayenburg

Culture and sights

Structures

  • Adventure Mine - The largest in its commissioning potash mine in the world annually attracts thousands of visitors to the " world of white gold ". Here in 1945 large parts of the empire gold reserve, cash and artworks were hidden.
  • Fortified church in the district of pebble creek - The church was built in 1563. The oldest of their three bronze bells dating from 1462 and probably dates from the chapel on the Krayenburg.
  • Historic half-timbered houses in two districts - in pebble creek there is the oldest preserved and inhabited four- sided courtyard.
  • "Country - Canyon " in pebble creek - Former old sandstone quarry was expanded from the Country Club Pebble Brook lovingly and faithfully to the Western village.
  • Regional Museum Krayenbergregion - In the Museum of the local part Kieselbach history comes to life and gives the visitor an interesting insight into home and Customs of pebble creek and the surrounding area.
  • " Andreas - Fack - house" - In the birthplace of the Rhön Song poet Andreas Fack in this flag has been lovingly decorated in honor of a small museum.

Economy and infrastructure

Industrial area

The commercial area marker is located at the eastern edge of the flag on the site of the former colliery. It has a total area of 70 ha (in 2009 ). Furthermore, the commercial area on Hämbacher Cross of meaning, it is situated on the border of the district Tiefenorter Hämbach.

Traffic

The Federal Highway 62 leads in east-west direction through the town flag, the national highway 84 through pebble creek.

Others

During the Second World War, 700 prisoners of war, and women and men from many occupied countries had to do forced labor: in the Kalisch Eight Appendices I and II of the flag, in the shafts I and II in Kaiseroda and Hämbach as well as in agriculture.
