The Merry Cemetery (Romanian: Cimitirul Vesel ) is a specially designed cemetery in the municipality Săpânţa in Maramureş County in northern Romania. The design was carried out for decades by local artist Stan Ioan Patras ( 1908-1977 ). He has decorated the traditional wooden grave steles with hand-painted images of the deceased and with verses to their lives.
