Meshadi Azizbekov

Meschadi Asisbekow ( Azerbaijani Məşədi Əzizbəyov; Russian Мешади Азизбеков born December 25 1875jul / January 6 1876greg in Baku. . † September 20, 1918 in Krasno ), was an Azerbaijani politician (Russian Social Democratic Labour Party, Communist Party of Russia ). He was one of the commissioners of the municipality of Baku. Asisbekow was an engineer by profession and took part in the revolutionary movements of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Russia and Iran. He was executed by British troops along with the other commissioners in Baku in 1918. Asisbekow had cult status in the Soviet Union. In his honor, many poems were written and songs composed. There are streets named after him in Azerbaijan, Russia, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Tajikistan.
